We
promote best practices for sustainable land use planning and protection of the local environment with a focus on Brant County,
Research ecological and sustainability issues (including waste reduction with a focus on food rescue and redistribution, reduction of exposure to toxins (e.g. pesticides, toxic emissions)
Work to protect farmland, natural heritage and water and prevent sprawl,
Support inclusive, transparent governance at the municipal, provincial and federal level by fostering community education and engagement, and
Foster inclusive rural communities with a special focus on migrant farm workers
Do you have training in land use planning and protecting natural areas, water and farmland?
Are you interested in research best practices to protect farmland, water and natural areas?
Have you worked on waste reduction issues?
Job Description:
You would be involved in helping with some of the following issues:
Research into:
Provincial and municipal land use policies,
The protection of farmland, natural heritage, built heritage and water,
Ecologically sustainable land use planning and the prevention of sprawl
conservation practices for farmers and landowners
Reducing waste, including repair centres, food rescue and redistribution
Fostering inclusive rural communities (with a special focus on migrant farm workers)
must be between 18 & 30 years old and legally allowed to work in Canada (a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have been granted refugee status),
include a cover letterexplaining why you are interested in this position and any relevant experience, and
provide two work references.

Term: 2 months with possibility of ongoing work
Start Date:Early May or early July
Eligibility:Must be between 18 & 30 years old.
Pay: $22/hour, 35 hours/week
Schedule: flexible Monday-Friday, occasional evening, or weekend
Assets:
experience researching and writing,
land use planning courses (Provincial and municipal land use policies, farmland protection, community engagement, inclusive rural community),
knowledge of land use issues in Brant,
WordPress, Canva, Mailchimp, Cakemail, GIS
driver’s license, and
Bonus: Spanish and ESL training/experience
Ability to commute or relocate before starting work (required).
