Reporting to the Manager, Planning Implementation, in our Planning and Economic Development Department
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with a full-range of planning functions related to the jurisdiction and responsibilities of Regional Planning, such as, but not limited to:
- Administer planning applications and processes- Assist with executing the Region's annual Employment Survey- Conduct data analysis- Evaluate a variety of planning proposals and issues- Research, analyze, monitor and compile demographic, land use and other related planning information- Develop computer applications to assist in the retrieval of planning data- Undertake surveys and field investigations to generate data required for studies and reports- Identify and evaluate trends and emerging issues through the analysis of data- Prepare a variety of planning reports and presentations- Respond to public and agency inquiries, providing information on planning policy and data
The successful applicant will possess:- A post-secondary diploma or university degree in Planning or a related discipline- Proven experience with employment surveys- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, Geocortex, ArcGIS Online)- Investigative approach to accurately reviewing and analyzing large datasets- Knowledge of data integrity and quality assurance concepts and practices- Eligibility as a candidate member of OPPI- A minimum of one-year relevant experience working in planning, including knowledge and experience with relevant software packages- Effective organizational, analytical, and oral/written communication skills- Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and the use of applicable computer technology- Demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines- Previous government or employment-survey experience an asset- Ability to work outside regular business hours as required- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based environmentCUPE 1764 Salary Grade 5This position is with Salary Grade 5 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:- Start: $37.47 - Six Month: $39.55 - Job: $41.63
