Your Role and Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be involved in a wide range of planning and development projects, guiding applications through various approval processes and engaging with municipal clients, stakeholders, and review agencies. Your key responsibilities will include:
· Lead development projects, including Official Plan and Zoning bylaw amendments, Secondary Plans, Site Plan approvals, Subdivision and Condominium Plan approvals.
· Attend, facilitate, and present at public consultation events, neighbourhood information meetings and Committee/Council meetings.
· Review and assess development applications for municipal clients.
· Provide expert witness testimony at OLT hearings and related proceedings.
· Track development applications and liaise with municipal employees and review agencies.
· Conduct site visits to assess locational context, document existing conditions, and analyze surrounding land uses;
· Assist in the preparation of concept plans, site plans, and report graphics while coordinating with technical support employees.
· Conduct research into land use planning issues in Ontario.
· Stay informed on relevant legislation and prepare memorandums to update colleagues and clients as needed.
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented professional with the following qualifications:
· A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in planning and urban design.
· A degree or diploma in planning, urban design or a related field from a recognized college or university.
· Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess critical issues effectively.
· Excellent organizational and project management abilities to oversee multiple projects.
· Strong communication and presentation skills to engage with stakeholders and convey complex ideas clearly.
· In-depth knowledge of provincial legislation and a solid understanding of municipal planning practices.
· Proven creativity and expertise in urban design, with the ability to develop and respond to design challenges.
· A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
