TWC is looking for a skilled person to join our team as a Senior Housing Policy Consultant. Your work will focus on leading housing needs assessments, developing housing strategies, undertaking data analysis and writing detailed and influential reports. The candidate will be based in Ontario and will work remotely with the need for occasional in-person meetings in southern Ontario. TWC has access to workshare offices in the GTA/southern Ontario.

The Senior Housing Policy Consultant’s core responsibilities are to lead, coordinate and support housing policy research reports and initiatives.
This will be accomplished by:
Undertaking housing policy research and analysis to support housing needs assessments and housing strategies;
Being the go-to person to project manage assigned projects;
Monitoring and reporting on key housing indicators and trends;
Creatively organizing and leading community meetings and consultations to gather input for policy directions that build support and consensus;
Develop and maintain strong relationships with municipal staff, community organizations, local elected officials and other key stakeholders;
Writing detailed and successful responses to policy research proposal calls;
Developing work plans with tasks and timelines to keep projects on track;
Meeting deadlines; and,
Other duties as assigned.
Candidates for this position will have:
A post-secondary diploma/degree in public policy, planning, project management, real estate, or a related field;
At least five years’ experience in housing policy research, planning approvals, and housing development, preferably in Ontario;
A detailed understanding of current affordable housing policies in Canada at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels of government is a must.
An understanding of the Ontario municipal planning and development approvals process;
Experience in community consultation and working with local government, community and non-profit organizations;
Self-starter with demonstrated project leadership abilities;
Superior proven written/verbal communication skills with the ability to edit, synthesize information/data, and present information to a variety of audiences; and,
Previous experience with Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Monday.com.
An ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams in a fast-paced environment. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
A driver’s license and access to a vehicle would also be helpful for occasional travel in southern Ontario.
Compensation will depend upon experience.
