The Development Planning Department, together with the Building Standards Department, form a collaborative team of multi-disciplinary professionals dedicated to the planning, and delivery of development projects and strategic initiatives that together shape the form / identity of Vaughan’s landscape. This includes the recently approved Comprehensive Zoning By-law, which is set and governed by City Council, to implement the policies and land uses outlined by the Vaughan Official Plan.Are you interested in joining this complex and fascinating project, and being part of a passionate, multi-disciplinary team of professionals? We have an exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Planner – Comprehensive Zoning By-Law (‘CZBL’).Reporting to the Senior Manager of Development Planning, the Senior Planner, CZBL provides: leadership, assistance, and expert technical guidance to the CZBL project; is responsible for service delivery and team oversight related to the CZBL; organizing, managing, and monitoring workflows for the CZBL project; leading the City-wide update of the CZBL after the City-initiated Official Plan Review is complete and the new City-wide Official Plan is approved and in-effect; and attending Ontario Land Tribunal hearings as an expert witness for any appeals related to the CZBL project.
• University Degree in Planning or suitable equivalent.• Full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and Ontario Professional Planners Institute, and designation as a Registered Professional Planner (RPP).• Minimum of five (5) years progressively more responsible municipal planning experience.• Excellent analytical, report writing and communication skills (both verbal/written).• Effective facilitation skills• Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management methodologies,preferred
