Reporting to the Division Leader – Community Planning, the Team Leader – Community Planning will lead larger, more complex planning assignments, supervise, manage the activities and provide leadership and guidance to the Level I Planner and Level II Planner, provide professional planning advise on planning matters, foster a culture of innovation, engagement, collaboration and respect, represent the Municipality at  Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) hearings, contribute to planning policy and budget development, act as staff liaison to the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee (MHAC).

 Some Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills required include:

• 4-year University degree in Urban Planning or related degree
• Full membership or eligible for full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is required
• Minimum of 5 years of professional planning experience in a municipal setting, including 2 years progressive experience in supervising
• Experience with providing professional evidence at the Ontario Land Tribunal and direct experience preparing for and attending hearings, will be considered an asset
• Well-developed knowledge of the following planning disciplines, such as urban design, affordable housing, economic development, environmental hazards, sustainability, climate change, community improvement, heritage planning and land use etc.
• Sound working knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act and related Acts, regulations, Provincial Policy and planning processes and best practices
• Thorough knowledge of municipal zoning by-laws and related zoning maps, policies and procedures
